內容簡介（中文）
陸師道（1510-1573），長洲人，字子傳，號元洲，更號五湖。嘉靖戊戌進士，游文徵明門，稱弟子。工詩古文及書畫，徵明四絕，並能傳之。
淺絳山水，一士子持卷坐樹陰下，對山諷誦。用筆蒼勁，視乃師為恣肆矣。而畫中一種雅澹之氣，固是衡山本色也。款題嘉靖甲辰，是三十一歲作。
內容簡介（英文）
Lu Shih-tao was a native of Ch’ang-chou, Kiangsu province. His style name was Tzu-ch’uan, his sobriquet Yuan-chou and Wu-hu. He received his chin-shih degree in 1538. A student of Wen Cheng-ming’s, Lu excelled in poetry, classics, painting and calligraphy and was able to maintain “four excellences” for which his master was widely acclaimed.
Executed in light color, this work depicts a scholar sitting beneath the shade of a tree. His hand holds a scroll and he chants his text as he faces the mountains.
The brush is wielded powerfully, and when compared with that of his teacher Wen Cheng-ming, more freely. But the refined and subtle flavor pervading the painting reveals that Lu has well attained and conveyed the true essense of Wen Cheng-ming.
The inscription states that the work was completed in 1544 when the artist was thirty-one years old.
