郎世寧（一六八八－一七六六）義大利人。十九歲入天主教耶穌會為修士，習畫與建築。二十七歲來華傳教，召入內廷供奉。善畫人物、花鳥，尤善畫馬。 山水畫，摻用西洋畫技以成之。山石、樹木、房屋之立體感，較傳統者明顯。

Lang Shih-ning was the Chinese name of an Italian missionary, Giuseppe Castiglione. He entered the Jesuit College in Italy at the age of 19 and there studied painting and architecture. In 1715, when he was 27, he was sent to China and on arrival was summoned to serve in the imperial court. He was a good painter of figures, flowers and especially of horses. Lang Shih-ning employed the techniques of the western painting in doing this landscape; as the result, the three dimensional effect of the mountains, rocks, trees and houses is for more apparent than in traditional Chinese landscapes.

Lang Shining was the Chinese name of an Italian missionary Giuseppe Castiglione. He became a novitiate in the Jesuit order in Italy at the age of 19 and there studied painting and architecture. In 1715, when he was 27, he was sent to China and later was summoned to serve in the imperial court as an artist. He was a good painter of figures, flowers and especially of horses.
Giuseppe Castiglione employed the techniques of Western painting in doing this landscape painting. As a result, the three-dimensional effect of the mountains, rocks, trees and houses is far more apparent here than in other traditional Chinese landscapes.
