內容簡介（中文）
松林石澗間，一巨虎黃皮黑紋，毛色鮮麗，體態威武雄壯。虎之雙眼，俱以金粉塗飾，並略染汁綠，顯得格外神氣逼人。其背隆起，宛如張弓欲發，隱然有即將出擊之勢。虎口微啟，低吟而未嘯。樹梢，二山鷓見狀，相與驚躍鳴叫，更為此猛虎出山的場景，平添緊張、不安的氣息。
通幅描繪如真，漬染極得潤厚的韻緻。畫無名款，舊籤定為元人。惟據畫風判斷，與明代宮廷畫風，頗多相近處，是以推斷，本幅或出自明代良工之手。
內容簡介（英文）
In this painting, a large tiger stands on a slope under a pine tree in front of a stream. The decorative features of the tiger bely its ferocious stance and piercing gaze. In fact, the artist added touches of gold powder to the eyes and used washes of dark green to make them stand out. It not only makes the tiger appear more realistic, but also keeps our attention. With its back arched like a bow ready to snap, it seems ready to pounce at any second. The snarl on it's face seems to convey an almost audible growl. Following the tree trunk towards the top, we find two long-tailed magpies sounding an alarm against the instruder. Their chattering only heightens the level of anxiety brought on by this tiger coming down from the hills.
The style of the entire painting is very convincing and realistic, the washes of ink having been applied with great detail and care. Although this painting bears no seal or signature of the artist, the title slip dates it to the Yuan dynasty. However, the style appears to be closer to that of the Ming dynasty (1368-1644) painting academy. If so, it might have come from the hand of some gifted court artist.
