曾熙（1861－1930），初字嗣元，更字子緝，晚年號農髯，湖南衡陽人。嘗主講石鼓書院，書法溝通南北，融合方圓，得魏碑之神髓，又能以碑入帖，兼有晉人之秀逸，與李瑞清齊名。
此件行書融合鍾繇的遒麗及北碑之俊逸，內容講述鍾繇〈戎路表〉雖為楷書但多用隸書筆意，學此當以三國魏〈曹真〉、〈二王〉兩隸書碑入手，可見曾熙對書法臨習著重以帖入碑。
張德粹先生捐贈於民國72年。(20110204)
內容簡介（英文）
Zeng Xi (style names Siyuan and Ziqi, sobriquet Nongran) was a native of Hengyang, Hunan. He lectured at the Shigu (Stone Drum) Academy and in calligraphy was versed in Northern and Southern styles, fusing their angular and rounded manners, respectively. He achieved the spirit of Wei dynasty steles and was also capable of adding a stele manner to his modelbook calligraphy, yet still retaining the beautiful elegance of Jin dynasty calligraphers. Zeng’s fame in calligraphy equaled that of his contemporary, Li Ruiqing.
This work combines the strong beauty of Zhong You’s calligraphy with the handsome ease of Northern steles. The contents describe how Zhong’s “Recommendation for Rong Lu,” though in regular script, still has much of the brush manner found in clerical script, using it as a starter for the study of the “Cao Zhen” and “Two Wangs” steles in clerical script from the Wei dynasty of the Three Kingdoms period. This demonstrates how Zeng Xi stressed the introduction of modelbook methods into stele calligraphy.
Mr. Chang Te-ts’ui donated this work to the National Palace Museum in 1983.(20110204)
