倪瓚（西元一三０一－一三七四年），江蘇無鍚人。字元鎮，號雲林、迂翁。家富饒，築清閟閣，蓄古書畫。善山水，為元四大家之一。 水墨畫河岸、疏樹、竹林和小亭，對岸山巒起伏，構圖簡潔，具清逸蕭疏之趣。此幅墨色淡雅，側筆寫山石輪廓，蒼勁沈著，畫竹之筆尤為遒勁有力，是雲林精品。此幅雖無年款，但根據畫風特色，推測為倪氏七十歲左右之作。

內容簡介（英文）

Ni Tsan, a native of Kiangsu province, come from a wealthy family, allowing him to amass a collection of painting and calligraphy. He excelled at landscapes and was one of the Four Yuan Masters. In this monochrome ink painting is a river bank, scattered trees, bamboo, and a small pavilion. On the opposite bank, rounded mountains rise up to form a composition that is simple and pure with a sense of expansiveness and purity. The ink is light and elegant and a slanted brush was used to render the outlines of the rocks and mountains for force and weight. The brushwork for the bamboo is especially powerful, making this a masterpiece. Although undated, the style suggests it is a late work from around the age of 70.

Ni Zan (style name Yuanzhen, sobriquets Yunlin and Yuweng), a native of Wuxi in Jiangsu, came from a wealthy family and had built the Qingbi Pavilion, amassing a collection of ancient painting and calligraphy. He excelled at landscapes and was known as one of the Four Yuan Masters.

In this monochrome ink painting is a riverbank, scattered trees, bamboo, and a small pavilion. 倪瓚（1301-1374）、江蘇無錫の人。字は元鎮、號は雲林、または迂翁。裕福な家に生まれ、自宅に清閟閣を建て古書畫を収蔵した。山水畫を善くし、元四大家の一人に數えられる。

本作には川岸やまばらに生える樹木、竹林、小さな亭（あずまや）などが水墨で描かれており、対岸には起伏に富んだ山々が見える。構図は簡潔で、荒涼としているが清逸な趣も感じられる。墨色は淡く上品で、山石の輪郭線は側筆で描かれている。力強い中にも落ち著きがあり、竹を描く筆遣いには特に力が入っている。倪瓚の傑作である。年款はないが、畫風の特色から見て、おそらく70歳頃の作と思われる。。
